With my partner, our dog and three cats I live in beautiful Clive, Aotearoa-New Zealand. During the day you can find me at The Nest Kindergarten, a beautiful kindergarten I co-founded in 2009 and which I now manage. At The Nest we have implemented practices based on the Pikler philosophy. The Nest is in a beautiful rural setting where the children are able to play in, on and with the Earth. The Nest is a prime model for implementing heart centred teaching practices with the children active in all the routines, rituals and regular events involved in running our 'little slice of heaven'.
When I am not at The Nest I will most likely be out delivering professional development throughout New Zealand. Visit my Professional Development page to see what I offer.
Online I can be found at The Heart School and daily on Facebook where I share lots of ideas, thoughts and photos.
And when I am not busy with teaching I will be on my bike enjoying the beautiful sunsets of the Hawke's Bay or in my bus road-tripping around New Zealand, making deposits in my heart bank!
Together with my kindred spirit Anja Geelen I set up the Heart School, an online community where we share our thoughts and ideas about Heart Centred teaching and the Culture of Kindness. Grab a cuppa and explore our Heart School website. It's a treasure trove of articles, photos, musings and quotes all based on the extensive work we have done in early childhood.
The articles give you excellent information about the philosophy behind the courses and workshops I offer. And whilst you are there, sign up for The Heart School newsletter and you will receive heart nuggets straight in your inbox.
When I am not at The Nest teaching, and I am not delivering professional development courses, attending conferences or working for The Heart School, you can find me in Billie, our 1992 bus. With Billie we tour through heartland New Zealand, enjoying the beautiful beaches, the green lush forests and great wine and dine.
